Winter 2023 Snow Leopard Tour-Hemis National Park
Feb 2023
This is probably the most affordable snow leopard tour you will find in Ladakh, but don’t think you will compromise on other aspects of the experience. I camped out for 5 nights/6 days and it was an unimaginable, unforgettable time. We were given heavy, down sleeping bags that will keep you warm during the -20C nights and a tent that had plenty of room for me. You also have an option for home stay which I didn’t do. There was a heated dining tent that had a wonderful staff of cooks who gave us such a diverse meal plan for three meals a day. I don’t think I had one meal that was the exactly the same. Everything tasted great and they provided plenty of hot beverages and water. Your day typically involves a 0700-0900 morning lookout for snow leopards (of course other animals, too) and then breakfast after. Then you have a choice of going on a couple hikes around the valley, depending on your activity level and interests. You either eat lunch back at the camp or during your hike, if it’s a lengthy one. You will have a porter to take your lunch to wherever you are. There is also a 1330-1800 spotting session at the lookout, or other spots if you want to hike farther and for better views. The guides are so keen on finding the snow leopards that if there is one in range of a spotting scope, they will most likely find it.
During my stay, I saw not one, but FOUR snow leopards. One adult female spotted twice the same day and a mother and her two cubs another day. I was allowed to watch the trio for 6 hours, resting in the afternoon sun and then the cubs chasing each other on the mountain. The guides had excellent scopes for you to use and will gladly take pictures and videos through the scope for you (digiscoping).
We also found 2 Eurasian lynx, 2 Tibetan wolves, tons of blue sheep, pika, lammergeiers or bearded vultures, golden eagles, Himalayan griffon vultures, woolly hares, etc.
You cannot find a better company with the price and experience than Dreamland Trek and Tour. Happy travels!

Dreamland Trek and Tour organized two wonderful trekking tours in Ladakh/Zanskar. The first time, in 2008, we went from Lamayuru to Padum. Five years later, in 2013, the trek was from Darcha to Padum. In both cases we had great time, unbelievable landscapes, lots of adventures, and first-class support from the team of Dreamland Trek and Tour. In both cases, we went back from Padum to Leh by rafting the Zanskar river: three days of whitewater rafting, pure beauty in the Grand Canyon of Asia, and a lot of fun. Strongly recommended. Everything was perfectly organized by Dreamland Trek and Tour. I look forward to going back to Ladakh and Zanskar with them.

My husband and I trekked the Markha Valley route over 8 days.
From arriving in Leh, at the Dreamland office, to departure our experience was without complaint or hitch. We were given the trip of a lifetime with every detail so calmly organised. Our guide Idga was excellent- so good at planning, very knowledgeable and reliably looking after us. The cook was a genius and a true character and the pony man kept happy healthy ponies and the little donkey.
The scenery was breathtaking and every corner turned, a different vista. My favourite bits were the high passes, what a wonderful feeling.
Javeed made sure we had the best experience and organised at trip to Pangong Lake and Nubra Valley after our trek where we had a ride on two hump camels.
Can’t fault anything- Can’t wait to go back.
Thank you Javeed, Idga, Beem, our pony man and our driver Ali.

Great company for the individual travel experience!
Jul 2022
The cultural tour was very well organized and everything worked out perfectly. From a logistical side, we could not have asked for a better experience. The company owner, Javeed, speaks English very well, he was very responsive to our email queries, and it was pleasant to discuss the possible tour options with him. Also, he was very flexible to accommodate all our boundary conditions for the tour. I have rarely seen this with a travel agency in the past.
Our driver on the tour, Ali, was a similarly honest and trustworthy person who did an excellent job. The only downside was that unfortunately, the driver spoke only very little English, so we received almost no information about the things we saw on the tour. I picked some info from our travel guide book, which was OK, but I am sure we missed a few interesting infos. If you would like to get some additional information while on the road, we recommend to discuss this with Javeed beforehand (booking an additional tour guide might be an option).
The Markha Valley Trek, including the climb of Kang Yatze II, was an unforgettable adventure. The trekking guide Sonam, our ponyman, cook and assistant were all very friendly and quickly became our Ladakhi-Nepalese family. The food was great, and the trek itself was very pleasant to walk. Our recommendation is to make sure that the group brings along a dedicated toilet tent, and a comfortable chair for each person. For altitude acclimatization, we took Diamox, which worked very well. None of our group got any altitude problems. You can buy the Diamox in Leh in a pharmacy without any problem (Javeed can help to find it), but it's even better to take it before you arrive in Leh.
Kang Yatze II is a serious mountain climb that requires mountaineering skills and the right equipment (crampons, gaiters, ice axe, climbing harness and rope). You can rent the gear from Dreamland Trek and Tour, but we advise to carefully check it with Javeed before you go on the hike. Some of the equipment was a little bit worn-out and needs to be renewed. The snow conditions during our hike (early July 2022) required us to cross countless small crevasses, and 2-3 larger ones (>1 metre wide, and many tens of metres deep). Two days before our summit push, two avalanches released on the glacier, cutting straight through the route. So make sure that the mountain guide has crevasse and some avalanche rescue equipment available. The high camp location doesn't exist any more (we heard it was permanently closed), so the summit push now is a 14-hour return hike from the base camp, covering 1200 vertical metres. Bring a good head lamp that lasts through the night. We left the base camp at 23:00, returning just after lunchtime the next day. Standing on top of Kang Yatze II just after sunrise is an incredible feeling that makes the pain worth it!
In general, we recommend Dreamland Trek and Tour. It’s a professional company, and they really try to make your trip as enjoyable and memorable as possible.

Excellent Company - Best Snow Leopard Treking Experience
Feb 2020
I recently completed a 12 day trip with Dreamland - 3 days of touring around Leh and surrounding areas and 9 days Snow Leopard trekking.
Leh and the monastery tours were amazing, prefect time to visit the area as there are nearly no tourists, of 10 sites visited I only encountered 2 other foreign tourist and 1 Indian tourist.
As a single female and wildlife enthusiast, I had booked a 9 day private Snow Leopard trek to Hemis National Park, I was of course a little nervous traveling alone to a remote location. I felt 150% safe and looked after the entire time. The 4 camp staff and my 2 wildlife guides (Gyalson and Stanzin), went out of there way to make this a trip of a life time, they were kind, gentle, knowledgeable and fun people. We saw 4 leopards - a lone female twice, then a mother and 2 juveniles for 7hours!!! We also saw 2 Lynx once and 2 Wolf on at least 3 occasions including a successful hunt of a woolly hare and a very near miss hunting a Blue Sheep. We also also many birds and Pika. The sightings and the stunning scenery was well above my expectations.
The trip was very well organised from start to finish, camping equipment was in excellent condition and the food provided was delicious and plentiful. Javeed was incredibly patient answering all my pre trip questions, and I asked a lot!
I could not recommend this company and its trekking / wildlife staff highly enough. Do not waste money booking with an international operator, book direct with Dreamland, it is cheaper and the money goes direct to the people of Ladakh and the experience is amazing.

We have just finished a trek from Lamayuru to Kant Yatse II through the Marka Valley. It has been a great and amizing experience. Everything was perfect: the organitation, the food, the team and, of course, our guide Sonam.
We have felt very well attended by all the people working in it. The planinification of the days for a gradually aclimatation to all we had to walk and to the altitud was perfect. The food was very good, variated and in big amount of it.
We all have to say is Thanks to all the team (guides, cooker man, helper and ponymen), all of them taking care of us, and thank you very much for celebrating with us that we had reached the summit of the Kant Yatse Peak.
So, everything was really excelent . I would recomended to everyone who loves mountains, who likes knowing people and who wants to feel secure being led by a good guide.

We did the 6 day Markha Valley trek with tents. It was fantastic and the organisation was perfect.
Our guide, cook and pony man were excellent. All of them were very friendly and funny and at the same time very professional.
Sonam, our guide, always found the best solution to guide us safely during the trek even when we had a challenging day due to the river level which was higher than normal. He always paid attention to our health and he was always available to help his team and other trekkers. Every day Stanzin, our cook, prepared different meals, very tasty and hearty. Always smiling. During the last dinner he left us speechless with his surprise.
In addition, we had to change the starting date a couple of times (due to a flu) and Javeed and his team were very understanding and helpful.

More importantly Gyalson the Snow Leopard guide was amicable he has vast knowledge not only about Snow Leopard but he has lot of things to tell you about the rare species of birds in Ladakh. Over all it was a great team work including local villagers that resulted positive outcome yes we spotted two solitary leopards on different days. Thanks to Gyalson & Javeed and the whole crew we will come back to LADAKH again definitely !!!!!!

Dear Javed,
it's been almost three weeks now that we returned from our tour. Lots of business awaited us here and that's why we get back to you with this a bit later than we had expected.
Our tour started with a big deception, as you know, because we were not able to obtain a permit for climbing Lungser, due to political and military matters, so that we had to re-orient our trip on very short notice to the Mentok peaks . This was all more than made up, however, by what we think was one of the most memorable trips into the rough that the three of us experienced, due to a beautiful nature and geology of course into which we ventured but perhaps even more due to what you had prepared for us: Absolutely perfect logistics for the entire trip, including excellent material and re-supplies, and a staff whose competence and capabilities were only outdone by their well-spirited friendliness and good humor throughout, in whatever – sometimes harsh – circumstances.
Thank you very much again for all of this! We will certainly be back in Ladakh soon.

We cannot think of better companions on our 16-day trek from Zinchen to Tsomoriri than the crew from Dreamland Trek & Tours. Lobzang guided us securely under any circumstances, and we felt very safe all the time. He knew the remote area extremely well and was always open to explain Ladakhi culture and landscape to us; our many questions he always answered sincerely and helpfully in his impressive English. Wangtak astonished us every single day anew with his inventive, varied and delicious food. It's absolutely amazing what he was able to cook on two simple kerosene cookers in hidden valleys, on 5000 m! Believe it or not, we daily got soup, a main dish with three sides, lots of vegetables and a dessert. Back in Leh, we – among others – very much miss the gentle sound of the horse bells we used to hear in the mornings and evenings near to our tent, not to forget the quiet singing and praying of our companions. Dorje, the horseman, looked after his horses with so much love and care as if they were his children. Most importantly, we were deeply touched by how kind, compassionate and cheerful all three were at all times. They helped us and others whenever they could in the most natural way. This taught us much more on humanity than any book on Buddhism probably could. Our many thanks also go to all the people in the background that assured a smooth and safe trek: all drivers were on time, the equipment was excellent, the food was fresh, and also in unforeseen circumstances, the agency always reacted very professionally. Last, we want to mention that we did the trek in late September, beginning of October. It was not too cold at all, and not only the Markha Valley with its red and orange trees and bushes was delightful, but even the soft hills of the Changthang shimmered in golden autumn colours.

The team of DreamLand Trek and Adventures is sensational.

It was extremely easy to plan this trip with Javeed, who was helpful and quick to respond. A good start to be followed up with an even more impressive trek. Our guide Pemba was just great. What an amazing man. Kind, helpful, proficient with English and a lot of knowledge of nature and the local culture. He was humbled to (try to) follow his pace up the mountains. Tenzing the cook did a great job rehydrating and reenergizing us every morning (French Toast and Pancakes!), noon and evening. He also did a good job laughing at our jokes together with Tashi the courageous ponyman, the fearless freight carrier of the highlands. But this crew's greatest accomplishment was making three oxygen deprived, gasping, sweating, stumbling, freezing low landers feel like they were superstar mountaineers on an Everest expedition.
The trek was amazing. We did it in April which I can recommend because you are the only one on the mountains next to a handful of local farmers and the wildlife. We saw Bharal, Gray Wolves hunting a Yak!, Golden Eagle, Chukar Partridges and YES, a Snow leopard..................footprint. If you go in April, bring lots of thermo wear and a high grade sleeping bag. During the day you will be fine, but at night on the higher camps temperatures drop far below zero.
We had a great time, thank you Javeed and the Dreamland crew.

This organization was excellent in every aspect. The information on the site and through email was clear, quick and to the point. The organization of the trekking was 100%. Good staff, new gear, lovely food, strong and healthy horses, friendly guides and an ecological approach. They just finished a garbage cleaning trek in the valley so that everything is cleaned up.

We are very pleased we have chosen Dreamland Trek & Tour, which is very professional company. They prepared for us 8-day trip through Markha Valley and everything went perfect. They organized for us a guide, cook and horses. Our guide – Motup was always helpful, our cook – Pasang, has been preparing amazing dishes high in the mountains. We are totally impressed. If we had any problem, Javeed, the owner, has prepared anything we needed. They are a good company because they don't only take care of a trekking but if you ask, also everything you need before and after that. They booked the hotels in Leh and Manali, also taxis around Ladakh and a jeep for a trip Leh-Manali. When we come to Ladakh again, undoubtedly we choose Dreamland Trek & Tour. We had a universally excellent experience with the whole team at Dreamland and we cannot recommend them highly enough. They were efficient, friendly, cheerful, informative, responsive and everything went exactly according to plan - which has not been our experience with other operators in India.
We booked our trek from Australia and via email exchanges were able to work out the best plan for our family (we have 2 boys aged 9 and 10 years old). All of the team were great from the guys who picked us up at the airport to Javeed, the owner. We did a 4-day trek including a 4,900m pass (Stok La) and the team (guide, cook, assistant cook, pony guy) were very cool, from the 6am wake-up cup of tea delivered to our tent, to the delicious meals each night. They were particularly generous to the kids, making sure that they had suitable food, playing cards with them, chatting and joking, as well as pointing out things of interest along the way.
Back in Leh, after the trek, one of our boys got a stomach bug he couldn't shake easily, and needed to see a doctor. Although we were no longer their responsibility, both Javeed and our guide (Achuk) came with us and helped negotiate our way to a doctor who spoke English. They were genuinely concerned and keen to ensure that Matt got the attention he needed.
We all had a fabulous, memorable experience in a spectacular part of the world, mostly as a result of the cheerful attention, professionalism and local knowledge of the Dreamland team. We would recommend them to anyone and many operators in more developed parts of the world could learn from their example.

"The beauty of the nature and people were so Pure and Raw"
This trek was one of the best experiences of my life. I have had many adventurous experiences across the world, but the this was unique. The customer service was outstanding. The team at Dream Ladakh helped us book out trek from Australia- they were informative, helpful, easy to communicate with, and directed us to choose the right trek with the small amount of time we had. We were picked up from the airport free of charge, taken care of at the office while they so calmly too care of sorting out the most suitable accommodation for the few nights before our trek. Naturally we had altitude sickness kicking in-but drinks and snacks provided we soon felt much calmer ourselves. The team are friendly and kind and go out of their way to help you with any questions you have and offer help where ever they can. The actual trek itself was PURE MAGIC. This part of the world is so pure and untouched, the nature, the people, the whole experience. It was hard work over our Markha Valley 8 day trek, but with an excellent and experienced guide who spoke good English, was super fit, full of knowledge, and such a genuine kind person, it made it very safe and enjoyable- even when climbing 5,200m.
As vegans we had no trouble at all with the right food be provided, with a great cook. So much food was available for us. The tents and equipment provided where in great condition and we were always warm and dry. The horses and donkey which carried all the gear were well fed and cared for by the pony man. They all looked very happy and healthy compared to some of the other horses we saw along the way.
Dream Ladakh were professional, have fantastic knowledge and experience, but what I liked the most is how trustworthy they were!!! Good for: adventure, All tourists, hiking trekking walking, Fit people of all ages, amazing nature

Once again we both appreciated their management team quality of service and constant availability together with the professionalism, efficiency and friendliness of the team during the trek: guide, cook, ponyman and mountain guide for the summit. Equipment, itinerary and camping places choices were excellent without speaking of the quality and freshness of Indian meals carefully prepared by a young Nepalese cook which added to our daily delights as icing on the cake!

We first did a trek trough Zanskar and all the material was exellent, the guide very kind and taking care of everithing, and so it was the rest of the crew and the cook. This year we stayed in Ladakh and allthough the inconveniences created by the terrible flood that parcialy assolated the country, they were able to offer us a pleasant stay. We organized our tour over the internet due to recommendations from other Canadians. Javeed met us at the airport and ensured we were well looked after throughout our trip including accommodation, guides, tour drivers, pony boys - in fact the lot! We did change our trekking schedule and Javeed met the challenge, was flexible, and as a result we also squeezed in a trip across Khardung La into the Nubra Valley after our trip up the Markha and into Rupshu. We enjoyed Leh, our trek and sightseeing journeys to a very interesting land with many excellent gompa's combined with a rich cultural heritage. Dreamland kept us well physically as we went to altitude and we were pleased with their approach to the environment in Ladahk. We found Javeed and his staff to be friendly and helpful throughout. There are many tour operators in Leh, but Dreamland stands out as a professional, honest, competent and well run company.

To all at Dreamland Trek and Tour………….thank you for a wonderful time here over the past two weeks. We arrived the day of the flooding and landslides during the night and while we were unable to undertake the Marka valley trek when we planned ………. We appreciated the care and attention shown by all at your company which allowed us to enjoy so many other wonderful aspects of Leh and surrounding areas. Therefore our initial disappointment of not being able to do the trek was not an issue. We were also able to go to the Nubra Valley as planned in our itinerary. Unlike Pakistan the rain and consequent flooding was a very unusual one off occurrence. Also unlike the floods in Pakistan the water has not lingered around and Leh is fortunate to not have experienced any associated health issues as the climate is so dry. Over the past days the trekking routes have been gradually opened and we were even able to fit in a great three day trek in the Marka Valley before flying home. We envy the people now arriving in Leh to trek as they will be able to complete their intended itineraries. We look forward to returning to Leh next year and completing the Marka Valley Trek with your company.

erwartet. Cibo e sistemazione di buon livello. monge.roffarello@libero.it
What you need for a perfect trip!!!

It was my first ever visit to India and also to Ladakh and I wanted to arrange my trek in advance. I went on the chat room here and found so many good reviews (backed up on other websites) that I decided to book my Markha Valley trip with DreamLadakh. It was great communication from day 1 and on arrival we were met and taken to the offices where we met the team to chat through the plans. From the moment the trek started until we were dropped off at Leh airport afterwards we were looked after so well. We had a team of 3 - a lovely guide Nurbu, talented cook Lakba and jolly horseman Angdu. They were so respectful (we were 2 girls travelling on our own), informative, smiley and hard-working during the 8 day trip we did not want to leave. Nothing was too much trouble. Always greeted with tea after the treks or at wake up......3 course meals cooked on fire - even cakes were baked! Cannot recommend DreamLadakh enough!!!!!!
